After graduating from Manchester University with an Architecture degree, Stuart joined the British Army in 2007 as an officer. During 6 years serving in the Infantry he was deployed on three operational tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
On his final tour in 2012, Stuart was injured in a vehicle IED, in which he sustained severe injuries to his feet. Following this, he went through a year and half of rehabilitation to help him walk again. In unfortunate circumstances, Stuart was involved in a second incident which lead to the loss of his right leg below the knee in 2014.
Through the 4 years of rehabilitation Stu has already gone through, he developed a great understanding of sports recovery and became very passionate in this area. He has always had a passion for sport and made sure his injury didn't stop that. In 2016, just over a year and a half after losing his leg, he completed the London Marathon, La Marmotte cycling sportive in the Alps (110 miles), and Ironman Mallorca. Being able to change the perceptions of disability and that disability should never define a person.
The first major sports recovery project Stuart built, was in 2014, when he set up and project managed Team Endeavour Racing. This is a powerboat racing team set up to help others who had suffered from injury or illness in the military, providing them with a platform to get back into sport and network for work opportunities. The team has grown from 2 boats to 5 boats in the last 5 years and has now been passed on to new management where the team continues to be a great success.
With the success of Team Endeavour Racing, Stuart was offered the role as Programme Manager for sports recovery projects at The Endeavour Fund. This has been set up to support injured servicemen and women across the country in the UK and international endeavours. He took on this role over a couple of years, utilising his knowledge and experience to support other projects. He took the decision in Sept 2018 to focus all his attention directly to ThreeZero12, which was set up with his wife on April 2017.
